As the sun returns to the northern hemisphere, it is a good moment to tuck ourselves in for wintering and trust that the plants will remind to wake up by sending love letters in the form of flowers 🌸

Our medicine folk mentorship studied moxa (mugwort//artemesia vulgaris) over the weekend! After some practice time together, then practice time at home - expect to see them at clinic offering you moxibustion as part of your seasonal care 💫
Moxibustion treats and prevents disharmony by applying heat to points or certain locations of the body. For centuries, acupuncture + moxibustion were combined in clinical practice.
The main 2 styles of moxa used at DayDream are from Japanese Acupuncture techniques as taught to Masha by Kiiko Matsumoto. These are Okyu and Ibuki 🔥
Okyu - is a specific style of direct moxibustion often found in Japanese acupuncture. It is a very high grade moxa, with specifics on recommended number of cones, size, placement, etc. Cones are burned an odd number of times - tradition teaches that odd numbers are Yang in nature - 3, 5, 7, 9. Okyu takes many hours of practice - don't try this one at home folks!
We also often use Ibuki (moxa stickers) - and sometimes give these to you to take home. It is easy to apply can be safely used with almost no practice because once it feels hot you can just pull off the sticker!
We love utilizing this potent medicine and sharing it with our community in safe, effective, and practical ways!
See you in clinic this week for some moxa love ❤️

If you are craving more community, more skills, and more seasonal strategies - our 3rd Medicine Folk Cohort applications will open up in March. Can't wait that long? Check out our 20 hour/2 day 'care tools for organizers' training at the end of January
Staying in warmth and solidarity ❤️
If you are feeling overwhelmed today - remember that the days are short, the energy is inward, and the world does not make sense if you value people/planet over profit.
Sometimes there is nothing to do for overwhelm but to have a cup of tea with it and cozy up to discomfort. Sometimes we can take one self imposed 'to do' off the list. Sometimes we can ask for help and care from trusted community.
We are at DayDream doing our thing until 12/21 - and there are some openings for birthing parent support, open apothecary hours for tea and sympathy, flower essence consults, community clinics, 1:1 sessions, herbal dream pillow crafting, and free ear acupuncture/ear seeds. Then we will take some time off to rest and dream.
In January we have a free clothing swap and our care tools for organizers training! Sometimes the antidote to overwhelm is to remember that there is a future worth fighting for and lots of people to share that with. ❤️

Friday: Semi-privates acupuncture with @laurenofthevalley_ // 1:1 acupuncture with @masha_schmidt // Birthing parent support group with @everyones_mama_

Sunday: Open Apothecary Hours // Custom Flower Essences with @amywhiteeyes // Evergreen Magic with @sister_spinster (waitlist only)
Ever notice the stashes of little bottles on our desk and shelves? Those are probably flower essences - like this motherwort essence shown here.
Flower essences help us move with grace and support through our clinic days and at home! Having a flower essence with you is like having a dear friend to support you.
If you are feeling any kind of way - there is a flower for that! And we are fortunate enough to have @amywhiteeyes formulating essences to support us. She will be in this coming Sunday for open apothecary hours - so book your time to come in and receive an ally for the season. 🌸
Masha will also be in to answer questions, and to help you set up your home apothecary with the tools and herbs for relaxation and whatever ails you.
Sunday 11-3 to stop in and for custom flower essences by Amy
